How it's counted
- A day counts when your phone or watch records 7,000+ steps
- Hit 20 days in October and you have finished
- Walks, runs, hikes, errands, chasing the kids: every step counts
- Steps sync from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android) in the Adi.fit app
- Days follow your own time zone
- Why 7,000 and not 10,000? A large 2025 review in The Lancet Public Health found people averaging about 7,000 steps a day had much lower risks of early death, heart disease and dementia than people at 2,000. For many people, that's a normal day plus a brisk 20 to 30 minute walk.
- New to walking? Build up over a week or two.
- Muscle burn is normal. Chest pain, dizziness, unusual breathlessness or sharp joint pain: stop and get checked.
FAQ
Is it free?
Yes. Every Adi.fit challenge is free to join with a free account — no credit card, no in-app purchase.
Do I need any equipment?
A phone or watch that can connect to Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). That's it.
How much do I need to do each day?
Walk 7,000 steps on any 20 days in October. Your phone counts them: connect Apple Health or Health Connect in the Adi.fit app and each day fills in by itself. Nothing to type. Miss a day? You have 11 spare.
Does it work with Apple Health or Health Connect?
Yes — that's exactly what this one is built for. Connect Apple Health or Health Connect in the app and your steps sync in automatically.
What if I miss a day?
No problem — you need 20 days out of the month, not every single one, so there's room to miss a few.
Can beginners do it?
Anyone with a phone, including complete beginners. 7,000 was picked over the usual 10,000 because it's realistic — build up gradually if you're new to walking.
What happens when I finish?
You get a finisher card to share, and October 7,000 Steps comes back again next October — same rules, fresh start.
